When Life Gives You Lemons

At ProCare Therapy, we believe therapy can be both effective and enjoyable! Recently, we spent an exciting day with the elders at The Green House Cottages of Belle Meade in Paragould, Arkansas, bringing a refreshing twist to therapy—literally. With the summer heat at its peak, we decided to make fresh-squeezed lemonade, turning a simple activity into a great opportunity for therapy and fun.

Our therapy session focused on squeezing fresh lemons to make delicious lemonade, offering not only a refreshing treat but also a meaningful way for elders to exercise their fine motor skills. Elders actively participated, using lemon squeezers to press out the juice, providing a valuable hand workout while creating a sense of accomplishment. Tasks like these are important in our therapy approach, as they mimic everyday activities that help residents prepare for life at home.

At ProCare Therapy, we’re committed to incorporating familiar, practical tasks into our sessions. We want to ensure our patients are not only physically stronger but also confident in handling daily tasks they’ve always enjoyed. This kind of engagement not only strengthens motor skills but also uplifts the spirit—making therapy a more holistic, enjoyable experience.

We had a fantastic time making lemonade and brightening up a hot summer day, and the elders loved the refreshing treat they worked so hard to create. We look forward to more creative, fun therapy sessions that foster strength and independence!
